William Young Harrell

William Y. Harrell Lakeland – William Y. Harrell passed away August 26, 2018 at the age of 88. Bill was born in Anderson, South Carolina on August 25, 1930, and was raised in Suwanee, Levy, Columbia and Hamilton counties in North Florida. He graduated from Hamilton County High School in Jasper, Florida. He proudly served our country in the USAF (1948-1954) and was a veteran of the Korean War, where he was a Senior Control Tower Operator. He also served in the Florida Air National Guard. Bill was a proud Gator, graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1959. He moved to Lakeland, FL in 1961, and later received a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from USF in 1970. He started a career at Ewell Prestressed Concrete as a manager. He was the owner of Milhart Contractors Corp. and Advanced Overhead Systems, Inc. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Helen Harrell. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of 61 years; his daughter, Sharon Jackson (Joe); son, Stuart Harrell (Gioia); grandchildren, Brian Jackson, Elyse Jackson, Pierce Harrell, Jordan Harrell; and many cousins. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S. Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33801.
