William Komanecky

William (Bill) Komanecky, 95, of Emeritus at Lakeland, Lakeland, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2012. Bill was born on January 4, 1917, in Auburn, NY, to the late William and Mary (Komar) Komanecky. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Snyder Komanecky, who passed away in 2003. After graduation from high school in Auburn, NY, Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII (ETO). He was employed at Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation for 42 years at various positions in the Service Department during which time he resided in Utica, New Hartford, Rome and Syracuse, NY. After his retirement, he resided in Skaneateles, NY, and Lakeland and Auburndale, FL. He was an American Legion member, a Mason, a 32nd-Degree Shriner and an avid golfer. Bill is survived by a son Alan and his wife Kathy of West Monroe, NY, and a daughter Nancy Altamuro and her husband, Mike of Lee Center, NY; grandchildren Paul and Ellie Komanecky, Christian and Alison Komanecky and Brian Altamuro; great- grandchild Ella Komanecky; and extended family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
