William "Ed" Rumph, Iii

William \"Ed\" Rumph III, 63 Ed Rumph, surrounded by his family, passed away Monday June, 18 after a battle with cancer. Ed was born March 24, 1949 in Athens, Georgia. He was a lifetime resident of the Tampa-Lakeland area. He was a graduate of Georgia Southern University. He served as vice president of Mid-State Uniform Rentals, Inc, a family owned business. In 1994 Ed then joined Allen and Company of Florida, Inc. He was elected to the board of directors and later helped to create the executive committee of which he was a member. Ed shared his leadership talents with The American Cancer Society, United Way, Rotary Club, and Chamber of Commerce of Greater Lakeland. He also served on the board of directors of Goodwill, Southeastern Textile Association, and Noah\'s Ark. Ed is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Rumph; daughter Jamie Long (David); mother Gerry Rumph; brother Bruce Rumph (Marie); sisters Susan Holland (David) and Connie Carrasquillo (Rodney); nine nieces, Jennifer, Monica, Stephanie, Chelsea, Haley, Delaney; Martha Ann, Rachel and Shelly Marie; three nephews Chris, Benny, and Bob. A memorial service will be held Friday June 22, 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Lakeland with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in honor of Ed to The American Cancer Society or Noah\'s Ark.
