William "Bill" Forbes Macleod

William ""Bill"" Forbes MacLeod, 78 of Lakeland died January 26, 2012 of heart failure. Born in Rochester, New York in 1933, he lived in Caledonia and Avon New York until 1973, when he relocated with his family to Lakeland, Florida. A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, Mr. MacLeod worked as a computer programmer with Eastman Kodak in Rochester NY. He was employed by Citrus and Chemical Bank of Bartow from 1973 until his retirement in 2001. An avid golfer, he had been a member of the Cleveland Heights Golf and Country Club for many years. Together with his wife Paula, they spent their retired years traveling with the Mid-Florida Happy Campers, a Florida RV group. He was an active participant in dog shows with his Kerry Blue Terriers for many years through the Tampa Bay Terrier Club and the Kerry Blue Terrier Club of Central Florida. Mr. MacLeod is survived by his wife of 56 years, Paula Sica MacLeod; daughters Roberta MacLeod Armstrong and Carol J. MacLeod, and son-in-law, Thomas A Hunter all of Tampa, FL. His extended family includes sister-in-law, Evelyn McCormick of Lakeland; the families of nephew Donald MacLeod of York , NY; nieces Donna MacLeod of Erie, PA; and Bonnie MacLeod of Avon, NY. Services will be a celebration of life on Saturday February 4, 2012 at 11 am in the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, 175 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland, FL 33801. Interment will be in a family cemetery in Mumford, NY at a later date. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to the Hawthorne Inn of Lakeland, Assisted Living Care, 6150 Lakeland Highlands Rd, Lakeland, FL 33813 or to a local animal rescue group.
