Vivian Grace Conklin

Vivian Conklin Lakeland – Vivian Conklin, 95, passed away Monday, April 27, 2018. She was born in Oldsmar, Florida, the youngest of 6 siblings to Etta and Clarence Conklin. Vivian received her bachelor’s degree at the Atlanta division of the University of Georgia, now Georgia State. She was initiated into the Upsilon Chapter of Phi Chi Theta and as one of the oldest members. She received her masters and was one of two women that graduated from that program. Vivian worked for the National Biscuit Company, now Nabisco, as an accountant. She worked at Georgia Tech in the Industrial Development Division. For 21 years she worked in DC at the Us Department Bureau of Economic Analysis. She retired to Gainsville, GA and enjoyed her home on Lake Lanier. She was dedicated to helping others. She volunteered as a tutor at Brenau College and volunteered at Guardian Ad Litem and Casa. She was active in her church and frequently led Bible Studies. She is survived by a loving family who remember her fondly as “Aunt Viv”. A family memorial service will be held at the Columbarium at First United Methodist Church, Lakeland, FL at 11:00 am on Monday, May 7, 2018. In Lieu of flowers.
