Virginia McKenzie Glass

March 15, 1941 — January 17, 2025

Virginia Louise McKenzie Glass, known to her friends and family as Ginger, passed away on January 17, 2025, at the Estates at Carpenters, Lakeland, Florida, under the care of Good Shepherd Hospice. She was born in Lakeland, Florida, on March l5, 1941, to Fred Arthur McKenzie and Maxine Boring Davis McKenzie. She graduated from Lakeland High School, and attended Mantevallo University in Montevallo, Alabama, one year before transferring to Auburn University. She graduated from Auburn in Education in 1963 and taught school in several states, the final years being back in Lakeland. While at Auburn she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Ginger loved to travel and built many fascinating charm bracelets documenting her worldwide adventures. She loved to ballroom dance and had quite an infectious laugh and disposition.

She is preceded in death by her beloved mother & father while being survived by her brother, Fred Arthur McKenzie, Jr., his wife Sandee, nieces Linda Sue Coley, Rene Foley, Lisa McKenzie, great nephew Ian McKenzie, great niece Haley Foley, sister-in-law Sue McKenzie and many cousins.

Ginger will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her care givers at Carpenters. Interment will be at Lakeland Memorial Gardens, with a family memorial to be held later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Good Shepherd Hospice, 3470 Lakeland Hills Blvd, Lakeland, FL 33805.
