Vilna DeZayas, age 84, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
She was a loving mother to Bruno F. DeZayas and Alan DeZayas. Proud grandmother to Bruno F. DeZayas II, Blythe DeZayas, Clement DeZayas, and Cecelia DeZayas.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband J. Bruno DeZayas. Her parents Fernando Silva and Consuelo Silva Bendana, and her brother Danubio Silva.
She is survived by her sisters Consuelo Silva (Lakeland FL) and Syra Mayeaux Silva (Austin, Texas). She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was born in Diriamba Nicaragua. She was very proud of her Nicaraguan heritage. She was sent abroad from her native country Nicaragua to study in Evanston, Illinois. At the age of 19, she was crowned queen of the “Festivales of Diriamba” and was selected as an ambassador for the Coffee Association of Central America. She traveled extensively in South America and Central America on behalf of the coffee industry. Later, she came to visit her sister who attended college in New Orleans, Louisiana. There she met the love her life, her beloved husband, J Bruno DeZayas. Subsequently, they married and eventually resided in Lakeland, Florida. She was a homemaker and raised her two children. She was very active with her children’s schooling. They attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and Santa Fe Catholic High School. She was a big supporter of both her children’s business endeavors. She was an avid traveler. She had many friends and had a very active social life. She was a people person and loved to have a good time. There was never a party she would not attend. Her priorities were always to put God and family first.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life mass on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 1:30 pm at Resurrection Catholic Church in Lakeland, Florida.
