Vera I Lathey

Vera I. Lathey, 101 Lakeland – Vera I. Lathey, 101, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Valencia Hills Nursing home in Lakeland, FL. She was born on April 4, 1917 in Bremen, OH to John and Ida Groff. Vera grew up on a farm in Ohio. She married Clarence Albert “Al” Lathey in 1935. She worked as a glass maker for Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation for many years and retired in the early 70’s. Vera moved to Lakeland, Florida in 2010, so she could be closer to her family. She always enjoyed playing Bingo and Skip-Bo with her son, Daniel. She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her son, Daniel Lathey of Lakeland, FL; her granddaughter, Kimberly Fortney of Yukon, OK., her grandson, Daniel Lathey of Laredo, TX; three great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and 2 brothers. A viewing will be held at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S. Ingraham Ave., Lakeland, FL on May 1, 2018 from 5:00pm -7:00pm with a graveside service at 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Oak Hill Burial Park, 4620 US Hwy 98 S, Lakeland, FL.
