Thompson Kenneth Cassel II 73 Business Owner Lakeland- Mr. Kenneth Cassel II died on January 19, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center of a stroke. He was born August 29, 1938 in Hagerstown, Maryland. Ken is a graduate of Stetson University and obtained an MBA from the University of South Florida in 1990. In the 60""s and early 70""s he owned Cassel""s in the Air (flight service at Gainesville airport. After selling that business he worked as a business broker. In 1978 he opened a mattress store on Memorial Blvd. in Lakeland which subsequently became the Sleep Center and had other stores in Tampa and Palm Harbor. He and his wife Cindy currently own and now operate as America""s Mattress and Comport Seating. Ken was a former member, director and Past President of the Rotary Club of Lakeland South, and was a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. Ken also served on the board of the Salvation Army. He was a member of Lone Palm Golf Club which he loved and played regularly. Survivors include his wife, Cindy G. Cassel, Lakeland, mother, Carolyn Cassel, Winter Haven, Fl., and brother, Terry Cassel, Los Angeles, Ca. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, 2620 Kathleen Road, Lakeland, Florida. Memorial Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Lone Palm Golf Club, 800 Lone Palm Drive, Lakeland, Florida.
