Thomas Richard Jeffries

Lakeland- Thomas R. Jeffries, 78 of Lakeland, surrounded by “his girls,” went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2019. He is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Marie Jeffries; daughter Mary Kelly (Chris), granddaughter Christine Kelly, daughter Monica Jeffries Hazangeles (John), and by many cousins, nephews and nieces. Born August 30, 1940, in Dunbar, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Lawrence and Anna (Bell) Jeffries. Mr. Jeffries worked as an aircraft fabricator and manager with Piper Aircraft and a manager with Pepperidge Farm, was an avid fisherman, skilled craftsman, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He cared deeply about the people in his life, be they family, friends, neighbors, or colleagues. He was a very proud father and grandfather and would share stories of the girls’ latest accomplishments with anyone willing to listen. Tom enjoyed countless mornings doing crosswords with his pals at the Reececliff and spent many happy moments watching the planes come and go at Linder airport. As an accomplished amateur artist, Tom was inspired by nature, animals, and architecture. He found peace in working with his hands and on the water. A funeral mass will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at St. Joseph Church, 210 W Lemon Street, Lakeland, FL 33815 with a reception to follow.
