Thomas John Di Cesare

Education / Administrator Lakeland- Thomas John Di Cesare died June 10, 2011 at LRMC due to a massive stroke. Mr. Di Cesare was born May 15, 1936 in Brattleboro, Vermont and came to Lakeland in 1945 and has lived in Lakeland the last 65 years. He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1954, Florida Southern College in 1958 and University of Florida in 1962. He began his career with Polk County Schools, later worked for Hillsborough Community College for 40 years, and most recently at Florida Handling Systems. He served as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army after college. He was President of the Student Government Association his senior year at Lakeland High, and then held the same position again his senior year at Florida Southern College. He was also the Honor Walk Student at Florida Southern in 1954. He was President of the Carlton Palmore Elementary PTA, Lakeland Highlands PTA and Lakeland Booster Club. He received the award of Lakeland Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. Mr. Di Cesare is survived by his beloved wife Anna Maria Di Cesare, Lakeland; sons Joseph and Susan Di Cesare, Frank and Jan Di Cesare, Tommy and Katie Di Cesare; daughter Rosanna and Bill Edmonds; 10 grandchildren Eden Keever, Trey Hardee, Thomas Di Cesare, Julia Di Cesare, Alena Edmonds, Marina Edmonds, William Edmonds, Isabella Di Cesare, Roman Di Cesare, Dominic Di Cesare; 2 great grandchildren Wyatt Keever, Reagan Keever; and sisters Rosa Di Cesare, Lakeland and Maria Famularo, St. Petersburg, FL. He is preceded in death by his brother Patsy Di Cesare. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 15 from 5-7 at Heath Funeral Chapel.
