The Reverend Doctor Ralph B. Huston

THE REVEREND DOCTOR RALPH B. HUSTON UNITED METHODIST MINISTER The Rev. Dr. Ralph B. Huston of Lakeland, Florida passed away on August 8, 2012 in Lakeland at the age of 91. Ralph was born in Fayette City, Pennsylvania on March 12, 1921 to Dr. and Mrs. Clyde R. Huston. He graduated from Charleroi High School, Washington and Jefferson College, and Boston University School of Theology. He has been married to Elsie Louise Beall of Washington, Pennsylvania for 68 years. They moved to Florida where he served as an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church for 42 years. In addition to his pastoral duties in Callahan, Tallahassee, Woodstock Park, Jacksonville Beach, South Miami, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, and Jacksonville, he was Superintendent of the Lakeland District and Associate Council Director for Ministry and Higher Education. Among his many contributions, he was a leader in representing the church for effecting social change in support of racial integration, in promoting interfaith relations, in recruitment and mentoring of ministerial students, and in developing mission programs in the Caribbean. Ralph and Elsie have four children: Drs. David and Lynn Huston; Pam (Huston) and Rev. Jim Rosenburg; Becky (Huston) and Dr. Jack Beal; Nancy (Huston) and Donald Fountain; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A service of remembrance and celebration will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church Lakeland, with Rev. David McIntyre and Bishop Robert Fannin presiding. Memorials may be directed to the Boston University School of Theology, 745 Commonwealth Ave., Suite 109, Boston, MA 02215, for the Ralph and Elsie Huston Lectureship on Preaching.
