Tanya Comparetto Friel

Tanya Comparetto Friel, 55 Tanya Comparetto Friel, 55, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015. Tanya was born on December 1st, 1959 in Tampa, Florida. She grew up in Tampa and graduated from The Academy of Holy Names (""78). She attended the University of Florida (""82) and then continued her education at Mercer University (""85) from which she earned her law degree. Family had moved from Tampa to Lakeland, so she decided to make the move as well after law school. Tanya began work as an Assistant State Attorney in Bartow. After several years she went into private practice in civil litigation. In 1993 Tanya married William Friel of Lakeland. She opened her own law practice in 1995. In the same year she became a mother and eventually would become a mother of two. Tanya was a member of Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Leadership Lakeland, Junior League of Greater Lakeland, and the Lakeland Bar Association, in which she once held the position of president. Tanya made the joy of motherhood, owning a business, and being a loving wife seem absolutely effortless. Tanya is survived by William Friel (husband), MaryHelen Friel (daughter), William Friel II (son), Mary Comparetto (mother), Karen Comparetto Lee (sister) - husband David of Lakeland, and Frank Comparetto Jr. (brother) - wife Geg of Lakeland. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 3-5 pm at the Tribute Center at Heath Funeral Chapel and funeral services will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Santa Fe Catholic High School to the General Scholarship Fund in the name of Tanya Friel.
