Shirley Blitch Boyett

Shirley L. (Blitch) Boyett, age 97, of Lakeland, FL, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 16, 2025, under the care of Westminster Lakeland (formerly Florida Presbyterian Homes) and Good Shepherd Hospice.

 She was born February 7, 1928, in Bradford County, Florida to Stewart Edwin Sr. and Sara Frances (Maddox) Blitch. 

 She spent most of her formative years in Lakeland. During her senior year at Lakeland High School her family moved to Dade City, and she graduated from both LHS and Pasco High School regularly attending both school’s reunions.

 In 1951 she married R.C. “Johny” Boyett. Shirley and Johny had two children, son, Richard Jr. and daughter, Sara.

 Shirley was a homemaker and was also employed eleven years by Publix Corporate.

She was preceded in death by husband Richard C. Boyett Sr., her parents, Stewart Edwin, Sr. and Sara Frances (Maddox) Blitch, sister Mortie Jean (Blitch) Hanshaw and brother Stewart Edwin (Ed) Blitch, Jr.

Shirley is survived by her son Richard Boyett Jr. of Interlachen, Fl., daughter Sara B. Wynn of Lake Wales, Fl. and sister Mary Ernestine (Blitch) Tye, Lakeland, FL; grandson, Justin B. Wynn, wife Leigh Ann, and great grandson Jake, Alturas, FL; grandson Stewart C. Wynn, wife Nicole, great grandson Walker, Babson Park, Fl.

A visitation will be held on Friday February 21, 2025, at 09:30 am at Heath Funeral Chapel with a service following at 10:30 am. Interment will be at Oak Hill Burial Park following services.
