Sandra Susan Crews Kirkhart, 64 Music Teacher Lakeland " Sandra Susan Crews Kirkhart was born on July 24, 1950 to Winnie and Frank Crews in Wauchula, Florida. Susan was a joy to her parents, she grew up running and climbing trees and took piano lessons. Her family moved to Safety Harbor, Florida when she completed 4th grade. She loved Safety Harbor and attended Elementary and Junior High School there. She was happiest out in the woods, or in the water, or playing the piano. She continued to learn the piano and attended Dunedin High School where she played French Horn in the Marching Scottish Highlander Band. Susan attended United Methodist Youth Camp in Leesburg, Florida and was a team member, counselor, and camp pianist. She was awarded music scholarships to Florida Southern College and majored in Music Education. She taught music in the public schools and private piano lessons for 40 years. Susan went to the Lord on January 3rd, 2015 after battling breast cancer. She is survived by her husband Tim, daughter Kerry (Mark), sons Tim, Michael, and Christopher (Tiffany), mother Winnie Crews, three grandsons, Jesse, Carter, and Justin, a sister and two brothers. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 7th from 5-7 pm at the Tribute Center at Heath Funeral Chapel, with funeral services at First United Methodist Church in Lakeland, Florida on Thursday, January 8th at 11 am. Interment will be at Wauchula City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Susan""s family would like to honor her legacy by contributing to future music education students at Susan""s alma mater, Florida Southern College.
