A true daughter of Florida, Sally was born February 5, 1928 in Lakeland, Fl. She was a fourth generation Polk County native from a pioneering family tracing its roots back to the 1800s. Her passing follows a vital life full of affection, enjoyment and conviction shared with her cherished community of family and friends. Sally was loved so much and will be missed for being the little, but mighty person that she was. Sally grew up in Lakeland and graduated from Lakeland High School in 1946. She received her bachelor""s degree in elementary education from Florida State University in 1950. During that time she became a member of Kappa Delta sorority- an affiliation that led to many lifelong friendships. After graduation, she returned to Lakeland and married her sweetheart Richard ""Dick"" Allsopp in 1950. Sally was a teacher for a short time before dedicating years as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a long time member of All Saints Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild, All Saints Day Care and co-chairman of the Memorial Fund. She gave her time generously to many community charities, including serving on the boards of Historic Lakeland, the United Fund, the Learning Resource Center and Lakeland Day Nursery. She was part of the formation of what is now the Polk Public Museum and was a member of the Junior League of Lakeland, serving in many leadership roles including Junior League president in 1967. Sally was strong, loving, smart, and was the heart of our family. Her wisdom, guidance, support, strength of spirit and love of family will be greatly missed, and we cannot imagine our lives without her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H.
