Ruth O. (Gilmore) McBride, 84 Lakeland " Ruth O. McBride peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 due to cancer. Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on December 13, 1928 to Joseph W. and Margaret Gilmore, she was sister to James and Eleanor. In 1950, she married Ralph Gilkey and moved with him to Arizona, where they raised five children. In 1974, she moved to Chardon, Ohio where she worked as a librarian. She married Malcolm Paquin in 1976, and worked as a social worker for the State of Ohio in Ashtabula. In 1987, they relocated to the Seattle, Washington area until his death in 1989. Upon her return to the New Castle, Pennsylvania area, she married Samuel McBride in 1990. They lived in Mansfield, Ohio and Plant city, Florida until their move to The Estates at Carpenter in July, 2012. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lakeland, Florida. In addition to her spouse, Samuel McBride, she is survived by her daughter, Deborah (William) Revett, son, Brian (Valarie) Gilkey, daughter, Martha (John) Lisinski, and Son, Dennis (Sherry) Gilkey, step-daughters, Cheryl (Lamar) Deitrich, Elaine (Bob) Searer, and Cindy Fedai, several grandsons and granddaughters, two great granddaughters, her sister, Eleanor (Paul) Kenney, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is predeased by her son, William Gilkey and her step-son, William McBride. Interment will be at The First United Methodist Church columbarium in Lakeland, Florida. A private memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arenson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823. Special thanks to the caregivers of Good Shepherd Hospice and The Manor at the Estates at Carpenters. The family finds comfort by His Words, particularly John 3:16 and Psalm 23.
