Ruth Jeanette Simpson, 89 Lakeland " Mrs. Ruth Jeanette Coker Simpson died on January 2, 2013 at her home. She was born on August 28, 1923 in Lakeland, Florida. Mrs. Simpson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lakeland for over sixty-five years. She was pre-deceased by her husband of twenty-five years, Alfred Forsythe Simpson. She is survived by her son, Allan Boyd Simpson and his wife Melody Mann-Simpson, brother, Peden Boyd (""Bud"") Coker and his wife Louise, grand-daughter, Lauren Simpson Storck and her husband Jon Storck, great-grand-daughter, Gretchen Storck, niece, Betty Jean Thornhill, and grand-niece, Kathy Sweeney. The Coker family came to central Florida in the 1820""s. Ruth was the eighth child of Lewis Coker and America Summeralls. Her family included seven siblings and nine half-siblings, sixteen of whom pre-deceased her. She worked for twenty-nine years for the Florida Citrus Commission and retired in 1985 from that position. Subsequently, she became a residential real estate broker with Coldwell Banker and retired from that position in 2011. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors and numerous other professional real estate organizations. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 72 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland, Florida 33801. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.heathfuneralchapel.com. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:30 pm in the chapel at the First United Methodist Church.
