Russell S. Lake, Sr., a beloved resident of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully November 4th, at the age of 83. Born in the Bronx, N.Y. on February 9th, 1941. He was the son of Albert and Helen (Hartmann) Lake. After Albert’s untimely death, Helen remarried to Harry Sampson and continued their lives together raising the four boys.
Russell was preceded in death by his three younger brothers, Ronald, Terrence, and Kenneth.
At the age of 17, Russell entered the US Navy’s boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois, and from there onto Lakehurst, New Jersey to become an Aerographer's Mate stationed in Mayport, FL, where he met his beloved wife, Carol. Leaving the Navy as a 2nd class petty officer in 1962, they traveled and adventured until they decided to settle in Lakeland some 40 years ago. They continued raising their beautiful children, working, taking many cruises, and being loving friends, parents, grandparents and great grandparents.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Carol Hosker Lake.
He is survived by his children, Russell Lake, Jr. (wife Amy) and Constance Lake (fiancé Timothy); grandchildren, Cristin Bieber (husband John), Garrett Kinderdine, Jordan Wagner and Zachary Lake; great-grandchildren, Cole, Joanna, and Elizabeth; and sister-in-law Vicki Adams.
A private funeral service and interment will be held at First United Methodist Church, Lakeland, Florida.
