RUBY FOLSOM SMITH Lakeland- Ruby Folsom Smith left her earthly home and stepped confidently into blessed eternity on December 20th. Her last days were spent just like her life, with her loving daughter Sharon, and her son David at her side, and surrounded by a host of loving family and friends, all of whom believed it was their privilege to have shared the heart of this wonderfully kind and caring woman. She would say the privilege was hers. Ruby took her early wobbly footsteps into a large family in Lakeland on January 30, 1935. It wasn’t long until she was joined by another set of footsteps when Ray H. Smith, her husband who predeceased her, joined her at her side. Soon, more new footsteps followed as Sharon Smith McCausland (Tim) and David A. Smith (Tracy) completed their family. Ruby devoted her lifetime to her children, friends, and extended family. Ruby lived her Southern values of compassion for others, honesty, and a love of her large extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, neighbors and church friends. They share with Tim and Sharon, Dave and Tracy, not in her loss but a celebration of her rich life. Ruby will join Ray once again to be at his side at Oak Hill Burial Park with a graveside service on December 26, 2018 at 10:30 am, with pastor Jerry Goodell officiating. The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate support of Good Shepherd Hospice and number of wonderful caregivers. We will all miss Ruby.
