Roy M. Westberg, 90 Lakeland " Roy M. Westberg, of Lakeland, died on April 20, 2013 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 90 years old. Until 1969, when he established residence in Lakeland, FL he had been a longtime resident of Bronxville, New York when his family moved there in 1934, after previously residing in Pelham Manor, New York and Brooklyn, NY where he was born on October 11, 1922. He was a graduate of Riverdale Country School, NYC and had a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio. He was member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. During WWII, he served as a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps for over three years. From 1955 to 1969, he was Business Administrator of The Reformed Church of Bronxville, NY. Upon moving to Lakeland, he held a similar position at First United Methodist Church until 1979 when he became the senior accountant for the Lakeland Housing Authority from which he retired in 1987. While still in New York, he served on the Junior Board of Directors of the Mount Vernon NY YMCA and was on the Board of the Church of All Nations in New York City. Mr. Westberg had been treasurer and historian of Bach Festival of Central Florida; president of Creative and Performing Arts Council of Lakeland and served on the Lakeland Citizens Advisory Committee. He was also a director of the Florida United Methodist Credit Union. At the time of his death, he was treasurer of Imperial Southgate Condominium Association and reserve elder at First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland. He was also a member of The Reformed Church of Bronxville, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Eric and Ruth Benson Westberg, as well as his sister, Ruth Eileen Westberg of Lakeland. He is survived by his cousin Karen Rose Levy of Great Falls, VA. Friends may call at Heath Funeral Chapel on Tuesday April 23, 2013 from 4-6 pm. A memorial service will be held at College Heights United Methodist Church in Lakeland on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 11 am. Private interment will be at Oak Hill Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, OH, 43015 or to the Music Enhancement Fund at The Reformed Church, Bronxville, NY, 10708.
