Rosemary P. Hudson Lakeland - Rosemary P Hudson was born Jan 23 1935 to Earl and Mildred Phillips, Alliance Ohio. Upon graduation from high school, was accepted to Ohio State University, but instead chose to enter the USAF where she served at Scott AFB and then, Brooks AFB in San Antonio TX, It was there she met and brought back to earth the high flying pilot, and she and George were married on August 20, 1955. They made their first home in Narberth, PA. His business career took them to Seneca Falls, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Atlanta, GA, and made Lakeland, FL their last stop in 1979. She, George, and son, Robert, founded Hudson Pump & Equipment Associates, where she served as an officer of the company until her retirement in 1995. Rosemary""s real career was that of wife to George, Mother to Robert and Karen K, and homemaker, extraordinaire. She had a love of music, books, decorating, flowers, colors, arranging things, dogs, little children and of course, cooking. She loved to cook " hated the cleanup. She loved stuff; could not get enough stuff. She had stuff for every holiday and non-holiday. She stuffed freezers, pantries and closets. She may have been The Queen of Stuff. An avid bridge player, she loved the competition, and never met a partner she didn""t like. Rosemary was a frugal person, and considered her degree from Empirical University, a PhD in Shopping, to be one of her treasures. Her favorite 4-letter word was, S-A-L-E. She loved reading and enjoying summers in Highlands NC feeding the humming birds, and New Smyrna Beach FL. waiting for the sunrise. A member of First Presbyterian Church, Lakeland, she was associated with Engineers"" Wives Club of Polk County, Heritage Antique Club, and Needle Guild of America. She loved the Atlanta Braves of the 70""s, Florida Southern College Men""s and Women""s basketball and the 6th Man Club. She is survived by her husband of 60 years; son, Robert [Karen] and favorite grandson Kevin, Winter Haven; Daughter, Karen K [Chris Simard] Atlanta; sister-in-law, JoEllen Phillips, Alliance Ohio; nieces and nephews, all of Ohio. Her life was shortened by a two year battle with colon cancer and she slipped away Thursday April 16, 5:50 AM. She was so grateful for the many prayers, many cards, and later, the emotional support of friends, family, and caregivers from The God Shepherd Hospice, and Comfort Keepers. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to: The Good Shepherd Hospice, 320 W Main, Lakeland, FL 33815. After cremation, her ashes will be interred in the columbarium at FPC. A Thursday family memorial service will follow at the FPC Chapel. After that: Sing no sad songs for Rosemary Hudson, no moments of silence, for on Thursday April 23, 2015 there will be a Celebration of her life for all our friends at the Lakeland Yacht & Country Club; a walk-around luncheon from 11:30 to 1:30.
