Rose G. Harris

Rose Grace (Patsy) Davidson Harris, 78 Rose Grace (Patsy) Davidson Harris, 78, of Lakeland, passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd Hospice House on January 2, 2016. Mrs. Harris was born on October 19, 1937, in St. Petersburg, Florida. She lived most of her life in Polk County. Rose completed 11th grade at Kathleen Senior High and later obtained her GED. She lived in West Chester, Pennsylvania, from 1965 to 1979 with her late husband, Ed Davidson. In 1979, they returned to Lakeland to retire, where she remained. Rose worked at CTL as a dispatcher in Mulberry from 1988 until her retirement in 2001. She also made the most of being in Lakeland and closer to her siblings, nieces, nephews, and their families. Over the years, she enjoyed playing countless games of Pokeno with the ""Hogan women,"" gathering for family celebrations, and traveling with her best friend, Aunt Ouita. Mrs. Harris enjoyed life and had fun in all that she did. She lived her life on her own terms with love, compassion, and laughter. In March of 2013, Rose married Monroe (Monty) Harris. They enjoyed almost 3 years of wedded bliss. Together they enjoyed live music, dancing, and bingo. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her son, Robert Daniel Davidson. Rose is survived by her husband, Monroe Harris; her children, William David Dawson of Lakeland, and Beverly Hartenstine (John) of Mountville, PA; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Rose (Patsy) is lovingly remembered by her eight siblings, including Jack Hogan (Susan) of Goose Neck, SC, Carol O""Steen (Elwin) of Tallahassee, Ronnie Hogan (Jeannie) of Lakeland, Mary Jane DiLorenzo of Lakeland, Ginny Bless (Bob) of Lakeland, Jimmy Hogan (Nola) of Ellerslie, GA, Betty Sue Hogan of Lakeland, Becky Carroll (Tommy) of Bonaire, GA, as well as two additional generations of nieces and nephews, and her family of friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at 10:00 am at Heath Funeral Chapel in Lakeland. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lakeland.
