Rev. Marty Jeffrey Cauley

December 7, 1964 — June 29, 2021

Pastor Marty completed his journey home on June 29, 2021. If you knew him, then eat a cheeseburger or drink a micro-brew or have an ice cream cone while pausing to think of your own journey. Perhaps there is someone waiting to hear from you or maybe there is something that you’ve always wanted to do and never made the time to do it. Marty wishes that all of his tribe would take some time for what is most important to each one of them today. And tomorrow. And the day after that. For you, too, are on a journey home and none may know the day or hour. Marty Jeffrey Cauley served the United Methodist Church in North Carolina for over 27 years. From student pastor to full elder, from his time at Lake Junaluska to his time at the Methodist Building (aka “the mothership”), he dedicated his life to helping people ask the tough questions by pointing them towards Jesus. Please pray for comfort and peace for the family and friends he leaves behind including his wife of 14 years, Danelle Miller Cauley, and his children, Jordan Cauley, Lydia Cauley, and Jacob Smith. Prayers are also appreciated for his brother, David Hinnant, his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Dwight Nipper, his brother, Leroy Cauley, and the rest of his family and friends. A memorial service is planned for July 10, 2021 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount, NC. There may be continuing restrictions for safety regarding numbers, distancing, and masks and the family will communicate on Caring Bridge details once we have them. Following the service, we are hosting Pastor Marty’s Master Party as a drop in event between 1:00 and 4:00 pm at the Dunn Center in Rocky Mount, NC. In lieu of flowers, Marty asked that you consider making a donation to Peacemakers of Rocky Mount, 2221 W. Raleigh Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
