Raymond Guyce Edenfield

Raymond Guyce Edenfield, 88 Lakeland " Raymond Guyce Edenfield, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 3, 2014, due to natural causes. Born in Toombs County, Georgia on December 29, 1925, he was the third son of four boys and was raised on a farm. During his time at home in Lyons, GA, he was affectionately known by his middle name ""Guyce"". After graduating from high school in Lyons in 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in World War II as a gunner on a B17 in the Pacific front. After returning from military duty, he attended the University of Georgia, graduating with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. While at the university he met his sweetheart and future wife, Betty Lee Campbell. In 1959 Raymond moved his family to Lakeland, Florida, and spent his life building his business and raising four children. As a business man, Raymond worked as an insurance adjuster, building contractor, and real estate broker. He built numerous homes and engaged in various commercial projects in Lakeland. He also sold and developed real estate throughout Polk County. His philosophy for living was to never retire and he did not stop working until his health prevented him in recent years. He never gave up his great love for the outdoors. During his spare time, he cultivated a citrus grove in South Lakeland and tended a vegetable garden each year. Raymond was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland and was a devoted family man. He celebrated his 65th anniversary with is beloved wife last year. He was a kind and generous man. He taught his children the importance of Christian moral values while setting the example for them. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Penton Edenfield and Myrtice Wilkes Edenfield, and brothers, James Pershing Edenfield, Marshall Foch Edenfield, and Wilson Taft Edenfield. He is survived by his wife, Betty Campbell Edenfield and four children, Raymond Glenn Edenfield, Janis Edenfield Wilson, Dale Edenfield Bosworth, and Marc Wilkes Edenfield; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Sarah, and Christina Bosworth, Brooke Edenfield Almiron, and Ricky and Katie Wilson; two step grandchildren, David and Doug Hill; and four great grandchildren, Serena, Grace, and Mercy Gallagher, and Scarlett Almiron. Visitation will be held February 6, for 5-7pm at Heath Funeral Chapel, Lakeland, Florida. A service of remembrance will be held February 7 at 11am at First Presbyterian Church, 175 Lake Hollingsworth Drive. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
