Ramona Long Kummer, 92 Ramona Kummer, 92, a long-time Lakeland resident, died at her home in Silver Spring, Maryland on January 1, 2013. Ramona was born on September 13, 1920 in Easton, Pennsylvania and moved to Lakeland in 1953 with her husband Dr. William M. Kummer, a noted Lakeland ophthalmologist, and their four children. She was a registered nurse and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Maryland in the early 1980s to be near her daughters. She is survived by her four children (son John Kummer of Lakeland, who is married to Ilene, daughters Claire and Carol Kummer of Silver Spring and Kay Frame of Falls Church, Virginia, who is married to Rodney), six grandchildren (Ian Frame of Herndon, Virginia, who is married Amanda, Cara and Jonathan Frame of Falls Church, Melissa Kummer of Silver Spring and Susan and Tina Thompson of Highland City), one great-grandchild (Declan Frame of Herndon) and one nephew (John Sargent of Enfield, Connecticut, who is married to Marcia). A graveside service will be held on January 12, 2013 at 2:00pm at Lakeland Memorial Gardens located at 2125 S. Bartow Highway.
