R. Bruce Wagner

R. Bruce Wagner, 84 Lakeland " R. Bruce Wagner died on August 19, 2013 due to heart failure. He was a dedicated educator who was a teacher, coach, guidance counselor, elementary school principal, high school principal, and the West Area School Superintendent of Polk County. Bruce retired in 1990 after nearly 40 years of service to the education of children in the public schools of Polk County. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Bruce is predeceased by his beloved wife Anne of more than 60 years of marriage. He is survived by: sister, Kathleen Funderburk and her husband, Walter, and sister, Marilyn McKinley and her husband, A.J.; son, Carl Wagner and his wife Jan of Woodbridge, VA; son, Barry Wagner and his wife Abby, of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Karen Hyman and her husband Randy of Lakeland, FL; and grandchildren, Bruce Wagner and his wife Nikki, Brent Wagner, Amy Dumas and her husband Briton, Daniel Wagner, and Analiese Wagner; and great grandson Brayden Wagner. A funeral service will be held Saturday August 24, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Lakeland, 72 Lake Morton Drive.
