Phyllis Sawyer Stewart

Phyllis "Jean" Sawyer Stewart, of Lakeland, passed away on June 24, 2023, at the age of 92, from natural causes. She was a member of Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina, and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and cherished by her family.

She was born in Ameagle, West Virginia. She was a Korean War Veteran serving at the Pentagon. In her later years she was a dedicated Pink Lady hospital volunteer at Lakeland Regional Hospital and Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. She also enjoyed her times as a member of the Red Hat Society.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband David Marian Stewart, parents Cecil and Helen Sawyer, and her siblings Gloria Neal, Virginia Pring and Cecil Howard "Joe" Sawyer.

She is survived by her sons Charles Stewart and David Stewart and her daughter-in-law Donna Stewart. Also, her grandchildren Jenna Werner (Jason), Kelly Crews (Justin) and her great grandchildren Thomas "TJ" Werner, Dylan Crews, Oz Crews, and Ryan Crews.

Private inurnment at First Presbyterian Church columbarium. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Boys and Girls Club or the Alzheimer's Association.
