Phyllis Dorothy Anlauf

Phyllis Dorothy Anlauf, 92 GTE Lakeland- Mrs. Phyllis Dorothy Anlauf, 92, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 of natural causes at her home in Mulberry, Florida. Born September 24, 1923 in Hudson, Wisconsin, she later moved to Janesville, Wisconsin, and graduated from High School in 1942. She then attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Janesville and graduated as a Registered Nurse in February, 1944, participating in the Army Cadet Nurse Corp during WWll. She was affiliated for her last six months of nurse's training at Woods Veteran's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After WWll, she began her nursing career at Mercy Hospital working in the Pediatrics Ward for several years. Phyllis and her family moved to Lakeland, Florida in 1962 where she was employed by Lakeland General Hospital, there again in the Pediatrics Department. In 1974 she began working for GTE in Lakeland as an Occupational Health Nurse. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Arts from St. Joseph's College, in Windham, Maine. Phyllis became a Certified Occupational Health Nurse while working for GTE and became the Director of the Company's Medical Department. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, the State of Florida Occupational Health Nurses Association, and the Tampa West Coast COHN Association. Phyllis enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Cleveland Heights Women's Golf Association. She was also a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church for fifty three years. Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty years, Ernest E. Anlauf who died in October, 2007. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra K. Anlauf of Mulberry and Pamela M. Folsom (Larry) of Lakeland; two grandchildren, Michael S. Folsom (Leigh) of Lakeland and Jennifer M. Currin (Mitchell) of Winston-Salem, NC; and one great granddaughter Lyla Roberts Folsom. A private family funeral service will be held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with a graveside service at Oakhill Burial Park. Memorial Donations may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church, 745 S.
