On the night of January 3rd, 2024, Philip Timothy Lord went to be with his heavenly
Father after a battle with cancer. He went calmly and softly in his sleep surrounded
by his family.
Philip, known to all as Tim, was born on June 9th, 1948 to Thelma and Edward Lord
of Fort Plain, NY. After graduating from Fort Plain High School, he served in the
Marines for 4 years, and later enlisted in the Air Force, where he served for 10 years.
He then spent a number of years travelling the world as a military contractor–radar
technology specialist. At the age of 65 he retired from a decades-long career as a
technician for radiation-oncology therapy machinery.
For the last 25 years he has lived in Lakeland, Florida. Tim was a devoted man to
both his family and God. He was an active member of Shepherd Road Presbyterian
Church, where he served as a deacon, elder, missionary, and loudest member of the
choir. Through his relationship with Christ he happily served the community through
his establishment of the church’s food pantry, which feeds more than a hundred
families every week.
Tim is predeceased by his parents and his sister-in-law Linda Lord. He is survived by
his devoted wife of 34 years, Renee, and their two children, Kat and Asia; his
children from a previous marriage Michelle Gressler and Timothy Lord; his brothers,
Edward and David Lord; his grandchildren Isaiah Mykel, Hailee Cochis, Taylor
Goodman, and Kaine Lord; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews,
nieces, and cousins.
Tim enjoyed music (singing and playing guitar), football, smoking meat on the grill,
cracking jokes (he was always the life of the party), and ushering at the Detroit
Tigers Lakeland stadium. Truly, there were so many amazing things about him–
there is no way to fully describe how wonderful of a man he was. There are many in
this world who will miss his beautiful voice and his generous heart.
He is to be buried at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell on January 11th. A
memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Shepherd Road Presbyterian
Church in Lakeland on January 13th
