Peter Laurenson Worthington, Jr

October 25, 1990 — December 24, 2017

Peter Laurenson Worthington Jr. and Victoria Shannon Worthington Lakeland- In the early hours of Christmas Eve, Peter Laurenson Worthington Jr. and his beautiful new bride of six months, Victoria Shannon Worthington, were killed in a plane crash in Bartow, Florida. Pete was born in 1990 in Baltimore, Maryland to his father, Peter Laurenson Worthington, and his mother, Jennie Clark Worthington. He graduated from McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD as part of the “Fab Fourteen,” having attended for the full 14 years. His strong group of McDonogh friends participated in his wedding this past June. He received his undergraduate degree in business as a member to the class of 2013 from Clemson University of South Carolina. He was a devoted member of the Delta Chi fraternity, and his Delta Chi brothers have been an integral part of his life for the past six years. It was at Clemson that Pete found his bride, Victoria, during a year when they were both taking summer classes. Pete was in his final year at the University of MD Carey School of Law when he passed. He was externing at the University of MD in their Sports Compliance Department, which was a job he highly enjoyed and hoped to continue after graduation. Pete was a kind and loving friend, co-worker, cousin, brother, and son, with a phenomenal sense of humor and a great eye for the extraordinary. He is survived by his sister, Sarah, and his brother, Robbie, his mother and father, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and three grandparents. He will be missed beyond measure. Victoria Shannon Worthington (Tori) was born February 2, 1991 to her father, John Hugh Shannon, and her mother, currently, Lavinia Lewis Kinloch, in Lakeland Florida. She graduated from Lakeland High School in 2009 and then headed north to attend Clemson University of South Carolina. While there, she earned a degree in English and was a dedicated member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She had an amazing group of sorority sisters and close lifelong friends who were by her side at her wedding. Tori attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Education, earning a masters degree in teaching, and she was currently working as an English teacher at the Baltimore International Academy in Maryland when she passed. She loved her job and particularly the children she taught. She was looking forward to watching them grow in the years to come. In June of this summer, Tori tied the knot with Pete, and they celebrated the occasion with their many wonderful friends and loving families. It was a most joyous time of fairytale proportions. Tori was a sweet and generous soul who brightened everyone’s day just by being around. She is survived by her mother and stepsister, Chevis N. Shannon, Brentwood, TN. She will be dreadfully missed as she has left a gaping hole in the Worthington family, which she joined just six short months ago. Most sadly, her father and her younger sister, Olivia, were also killed in the plane crash. They, too, will be missed. Memorials may be made to The Clemson University Foundation Scholarships Fund, www.Clemson.edu/Isupportcu. Two memorial services will be held, one in Lakeland, Florida, and one in Owings Mills, Maryland. The details are as follows: Lakeland Services will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4450 Harden Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33813, on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10:30 am.
