Peggy Joyce Downing Gillock

Mrs. Peggy Joyce (Downing) Gillock, born on October 15, 1944, in Holland, Kentucky, to the late Ruby Kathleen Gibbs Downing and the late John Clemons Downing, passed away at age 73 on July 19, 2018, in Lakeland, Florida. She graduated from Western Kentucky University with her Master's Degree in Music Education in 1967. She was at Combee Elementary School as a Music Teacher until retiring in 2010. Peggy was the beloved wife of William H. Gillock Jr. She is survived by her son, William D. Gillock (Marissa); daughters, Leslie G. Waldorff (Russell G. Waldorff Jr) and Heather M. Bridges; sister, Shirley D. Jones; grandchildren, Joshua A. G. Waldorff, Russell G. Waldorff III, Stephanie L. Waldorff, Adam W. Waldorff, Joseph M. Hagan, Lilyonna S. Gillock, Melayna K. Gillock, Logan T. Bridges, and Noel H. Simmons; and great-grandchildren, Emma L. Waldorff, Sophia M. Waldorff, and Aiden M. Hagan, multiple nieces and nephews. Peggy's hobbies included reading, studying the word of God, singing, composing music, crocheting, calligraphy, painting, and cake decorating. She was the organist and choir director at Presbyterian Church in the Highlands. Friends and family are welcome to attend the celebration of life on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 2:00 pm at Presbyterian Church in the Highlands, 1010 Lake Miriam Dr, Lakeland, Florida 33813.
