BURR, PEGGY CLARK (Margaret) 82, of Lakeland, passed away on May 4, 2015. Peggy was born in Lexington Kentucky on Christmas day in 1932, but raised in Lakeland, Florida. Peggy lived a full and colorful life. After graduating from Lakeland High School, she attended the University of Florida and graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland with a bachelor's degree in music education and was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. While a student, she spent summers in Maine and performed at various summer stock theatres in the area. She was an accomplished pianist, vocalist and performing member of the Lakeland Symphony, but also played many other instruments and participated in many local performing groups including Lydia & The Pinhkams, recorder groups and many other music-related activities and groups too long to list. She married True Burr in 1962, also a talented musician and artist, who predeceased her in 1995. Over the years, she influenced many lives as friend and mentor by teaching a variety of music classes, piano, chorus etc. throughout the Polk County school system from 1954 through 1989, when she retired. She was very active in the performing arts community, including participating in the Lakeland Little Theatre, including roles in The King and I, Damn Yankees, Music Man and Auntie Mame for which she was awarded best actress for a leading role. In her retirement, she remained very active in the community and continued to take an active role in the Tuesday Morning Music Club, Women's Club, Julia Berry Bennett Club the PEO and various Florida historical groups. In her retirement, she travelled the world with friends, family and colleagues. Her radiant smile and humor were always omnipresent and would fill the room when she would enter and her colorful stories could fill volumes. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her. She was predeceased by her brother John T.V. Clark of Zephyrhills, also an accomplished musician and music educator and is survived by her 3 nephews. A service will be held for her at the chapel at the Florida Presbyterian Home on May 29 at 2 p.m, located at 6 Lake Hunter Drive, Lakeland 33803.
