Paul Ole Summerlin 02/27/1966 - 10/26/2021 On Tuesday, October 26, 2021, Paul Ole Summerlin went to be with the LORD. Paul is survived by his wife Janice; his children Randy (Megan); Brandy (William); Griffin; and Sylvia; three grandchildren; his stepmother, Maggie; and his sisters and sister-in-law, Terri, Dale, and Kathy; as well as many family members; and his two Great Danes, Max, and Cleo. He is preceded in death by his father, Fred; mother, Joy; and his brother Marshall. Paul worked as an industrial sandblaster and painter; a sometimes-dangerous job as he would be closed inside a tank or silo to do so. And while some couldn't understand his choice in career, Paul loved his work. His father and grandfather were both painters and Paul took pride in carrying on that tradition, as an industrial sandblaster, though, instead of a precision house painter like them. He was generous and kind to a fault and never hesitated to help another, even sometimes to his own detriment. He once saved a co-workers' life during an industrial explosion/fire in one of the tanks they were painting. The guy was able to thank him personally when they randomly saw each other 30 years later. That was Paul. Kind. Loving. Sacrificial. Paul was constantly making everyone laugh and would rather face any situation in life with humor than sadness. He entertained us all with funny stories and would misquote quips from popular movies for a solid laugh. "I told you three times I DON'T LIKE SALMON!!!" Paul loved the outdoors. He could track, although he was not a hunter, and enjoyed fishing with family at state parks, although not for the fish but for the stories and companionship. And oh, how we are going to miss his fudge! He loosely followed a recipe passed down from papa Ben. We know he was no saint, but you would understand in an instant why we remember these acts of kindness upmost and first if you could just sit in a room with him for five minutes. He'd have you laughing, too. Of all the people he touched in this life here on earth, his most proud achievements were his children. And Paul never hesitated to tell a person he loved them. He did that a lot. That is something we will all cherish in our hearts forever. We celebrate the life of our beloved Paul and just ask that you take an example from him and face your life challenges with humor; if you can, "you big sillies!" The Celebration of Life for Paul will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist in immediate expenses for his wife and children.
