Paul B. Maasen

Wentzville, MO - Paul B. Maasen, a resident of Sun City Center, FL and Wentzville, MO died at his Wentzville home Friday, February 19, 2016. He was born September 3, 1946 in Kansas City, MO, son of the late Francis ""Frank"" B. and Beatrice (Taegel) Maasen. He is survived by his wife Mary Smyth-Maasen; daughter Kiri M. Maasen, St. Louis; son Igal Maasen (AiHanh Thi Dao), Acworth, GA; brothers Frank Maasen, Green Valley, AZ and Patrick Maasen, Lees Summit, MO; sisters Mary Wirtz (Patrick), Olathe, KS and Theresa Cromwell (Lee), Independence, MO and numerous nieces, nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anna Maasen. Paul was the owner of KC Industries, LLC (KCI), a specialty chemical manufacturer and distributor, and KC Industries Trucking, LLC (KCIT) specializing in the transportation of bulk liquid chemicals. Both companies are headquartered in Mulberry, FL. Paul worked in the chemical business his entire career and from the Mulberry, FL location for the past 37 years. He specialized in the manufacture, distribution, sales and marketing of chemicals for the potable water fluoridation industry. Paul received a BS in Engineering Science from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, completed required course work for an MS in Chemical Engineering at the University of Missouri, Columbia and received an MBA from Case Western University in Cleveland, OH. Paul was a life-long spiritual seeker and human rights advocate. He believed all people, regardless of color or creed, deserved to be treated with dignity and respect. As an entrepreneur, he was a man of integrity and was dedicated to his employees and their families. Among his many interests, Paul enjoyed the great outdoors, travel, reading, tinkering in his workshop and cooking (""chemistry in the kitchen,"" he always said.) A celebration of Paul""s life will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Pitman Funeral Home Reception Center (visit http://pitmanfuneralhome.com/ for details and directions) in Wentzville, MO from 3-7 p.m. An additional celebration of Paul""s life will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Heath Funeral Chapel Tribute Center (visit www.heathfuneralchapel.com for details and directions) in Lakeland, FL from 3-7 p.m. Food and refreshments will be provided at each location.
