Patsy Hudson Wells

Patsy Hudson Wells, 99, died on November 24, 2023, at home. She was born on January 23, 1924, in Louisville, KY to Irvin and Elizabeth Hudson. Pat was their first-born child, followed by a sister and a brother.

When Pat was around 7 years old, the family purchased a home and grocery store in the country, 12 miles out of Louisville. The children had an idyllic childhood and wonderful education. Pat eventually moved to St. Petersburg, FL where she met and married Jerry W. Wells Jr., a law enforcement officer. They were married for 55 years when Jerry died in 2002. This union was blessed with 2 children, a daughter, and a son. The family was transferred several times around the state, ending in Lakeland where Jerry retired.

Pat was first a homemaker for about 24 years and immensely enjoyed her family life. When her daughter was in college and her son in high school, Pat went to work as a banker, working her way up to Branch Officer. She then took the position of office/business manager for a well-known doctor. She retired in 1997 at age 73. It was time.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Irvin Hudson, beloved husband, Jerry W. Wells Jr., beloved sister, Ann McDaniel, brother-in-law, Bill McDaniel, brother, Lt General John I. Hudson, USMC, and sister-in-law Zeta Hudson.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Yarbrough, KY; Patsy Ann Wells, N.C., son, Jerry W. Wells III, Lakeland; grandchildren, Maj. Jerry W. Wells IV, USMC (Terry J. Buckley, mother) Stephanie J. Wells, Kimberly Bargeron, KY; Traci Ann Bargeron, St. Pete, FL; Cathy Brower, Brandon; Eric Yarbrough, Riverview, FL; along with many loved great grandchildren, and much-loved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
