Patricia J Conner

Born Richmond, Virgina, on Dec 16th, 1939, "Patricia Jones" sang her first solo in church at age two. She continued to sing for another 80 years! She sang with many groups, and in a variety of styles, such as: folk group "Lydia and the Pinkhams" and Madrigal Groups - Musica Divina and Musica Antiqua. She also soloed with the Lakeland Choral Society, The Lakeland Imperial Symphony, and the annual Bach Festival.

After minoring in music at Florida Southern College, graduating as Valedictorian in 1961, she was a substitute teacher for a number of years in Polk County. She later became an Associate/Assistant teacher for a time, then returned to FSC and became a certified music teacher. She taught Music in Polk Co. elementary schools for over 30 years. Ms Conner taught at: John Cox Elementary, Blake Elementary, North Lakeland Elementary and Purcell Elementary. While at Blake Elementary, she wrote their school song. She directed outstanding programs at all of the schools and made elaborate costumes and scenery for their "Productions". Patricia also, taught night classes at Florida Southern College and was a Choir Director at College Heights First United Methodist Church during the '90's.

Upon retiring, she continued to perform with the Lakeland Choral Society and the Bach Festival. She also enjoyed gardening, attending church, reading and spending time with family.

Patricia Jones Conner passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, after a short illness. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lake Rutledge, brother Gregory A Jones and sister Debra Jones Brown, 4 grandchildren -Zachary Hottle, Autumn Hottle, Amber Hottle and Dalton Rutledge and many nieces and nephews.

The Service takes place at Heath Funeral Chapel March 15, 2025, at 11 AM, preceded by the viewing at 10 AM. There will be a reception following the funeral at Heath Funeral Chapel and a Graveside service held at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
