Oneita Bailey

Audrey ""Oneita"" Bailey, 90, of Lakeland, Florida formerly from Kendallville, Indiana passed away at Hospice House in Lakeland, FL on March 25, 2016 from Dementia and complications from a broken hip. The memorial service will be held at Southwest church of Christ at 7:30pm on Thursday March 31. Mr. Freddie Franklin will be officiating. A potluck dinner will be held from 4pm until the service time at the home of the Hood""s. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Heath Funeral Chapel. Oneita was born in Linton, Indiana on February 19, 1926 and grew up in southern Indiana. She was 4th of 10 children born to Lestie Martha Pafford Hamlin and Marcus Benjamin Hamlin. She received a nursing degree from Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana in the 1970""s. She worked in nursing her whole life. Her passion was taking care of the elderly. Oneita worked as a CNA for McCray Memorial Hospital in Kendallville, IN and Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN and Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL as well as many nursing homes throughout the years. Her final job was working in the home health care field taking care of the elderly in Lakeland, Florida before retiring. She enjoyed quilting, painting, poetry and taking her grandchildren to the pool and just being with them. She was a founding member of Southwest church of Christ and actively involved in the work of the church, teaching classes and visiting the elderly. Oneita was married to Donald Bailey on November 22, 1944; they were happily married for 71 years. Oneita is survived by Donald Earl Bailey, 90. Children, Donald Wayne Bailey (wife Eileen) of Kendallville, IN, Dawn Lynette Bailey Hood (husband, Steve) of Lakeland,FL, grandchildren, Kent Bailey, Shawn Bailey, Rodney Donaho, Robin Donaho, Donald Donaho, David, Donaho, Adam Hood, Ashley Hood Mathers. Many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Oneita is preceded in death by a dear daughter, Darlene Rhena Donaho, 17 years ago.
