Moira F. "Motsy" Polifrone Lakeland: It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mother, Nonnie, Aunt, and friend, Motsy at the age of eighty-nine. She was the daughter of the late Peter R. and Frances A. Austill Sachs. Motsy was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-two years, Nick L., her daughter, Candace Kay, her son Nick R., as well as five brothers and three sisters who include her beloved twin, Merline "Venice" Serago. She is survived by her four daughters Gina (Steven) Scheck of Sebring, FL, Denise Polifrone of Newberry, SC, Annette Polifrone of Wauchula, FL and Lori (Mark) Grandone of Eagarville, IL. Left to treasure her memory are her grandsons, Neil ( Fallon) Whitney of Lakeland, FL, Ryan (Leslie) Whitney of Indialantic, FL, Matt Scheck of Alpharetta, GA, granddaughter, Jessa Grandone of Eagarville, IL and three great grandchildren, Jackson, Brinkley and Iliana Whitney, all of whom referred to her as their Nonnie. She will be missed as well by her many nieces and nephews as well as her dear friend, Bill Whitney, whose supportive love was so treasured by her. Motsy and Nick moved to Lakeland in 1957 where they owned and operated King's Castle Styling Salon until Nick's death in 1990. They were ahead of their time in opening the Castle as the first hairstyling salon for men. Motsy also worked for US Senator Lawton Chiles till his retirement. Motsy, a lifelong Catholic, was an active member of St Joseph""s Catholic Church. She volunteered countless hours assisting the office staff of St Joe's as well as her time, love and dedication to the blood bank and Talbott House. She was a greeter at St Joe's as well as a life member of the Council of Catholic Women, a member of St Joseph's Bereavement Group, St Joseph's Catholic War Veterans and the VFW Auxiliary Post #2297. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Church, 210 West Lemon, Lakeland, FL. Visitation will be Thursday, July 2nd, 9:00 a.m. till 10:15 a.m. at the Church with mass following at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private. A luncheon reception will be held in the church hall following the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice to facilitate their continued good works.
