Milan Mickey Horvate, Jr.

Milan ""Mickey"" P. Horvate, 79 Lakeland - Mickey Horvate, age 79, died January 6, 2013 renal failure. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the oldest of five children. He graduated from West Division High School in Milwaukee and Marquette University. Mickey was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Gonzalez Horvate; his brothers George and Jerome Horvate. He is survived: by two children, Jeff Horvate and Christine Heath of Lakeland; two grandchildren, Michael Heath and Ashley Wallace, also of Lakeland; two sisters, Anna Mae Krajenka of Deltona and Judy Letter of Indiana. Mickey was involved with many civic organizations including the Milwaukee Speaker""s Bureau where he gave over 100 speeches in three years setting a record of 67 speeches in one year. He was the ""Outstanding District Governor"" of Toastmasters International for Marshfield, WI. In Wisconsin he was also involved with the local churches, American Legion, Kiwanis Club where he was the president, Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. In addition to service organizations, Mickey loved sports. He coached and managed youth sports teams and was active in broadcasting for local sports team. Mickey managed manufacturing plants in Wisconsin including Larson Juhl, a mobile home Plant, and the Louis Allis Co. He and his family moved to Lakeland in 1989. In Lakeland, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Rotary Club where he had 13 years of perfect attendance. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 11, 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church chapel in Lakeland. Service: 01/11/2013 First Presbyterian Church
