Matthew Craig Walters

Matthew Craig Walters, 50, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on February 8, 2024, in Bradenton, Florida. He was born on April 29, 1973, in Lakeland. Matt was a loving son to his parents, Carol and Alan Harrell of Lakeland, Florida and was loved by many people both near and far away.

Matt attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and later Lake Gibson Middle School and High School… all in Lakeland, FL.

Matt dedicated 16 years of his life to serving in the United States Navy where he was thought of as a super good person and a superb technician. Fellow sailors have shared, they were blessed to know him and work with him. His military associations were a significant part of his identity and he took great pride in his service to his country. Currently, he was a quality control supervisor for a Sarasota company, where he was respected by his employers and well thought of by his crew.

Matt was preceded in death by his father, Alfred J. Walters, Jr. He leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of his loved ones and friends. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda, his parents, his children Valentina and Thomas Walters from Sicily, his sister Beth West (Jimmy), his brothers Rob Harrell (Angela) and Greg Harrell (Susan). More children include Kristen Tyer (Wade Sr.), Mark Nemechek II, Caitlin Nemechek Plank (Charles) and grandchildren Sierra Tyer, Whyatt Tyer, Wade Tyer II, Gatlin Tyer, Natalie Nemechek, and Lainey Tyer. He will also be missed by his loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many, many great friends.

Visitation with the family will be held at 10 AM Prior to the Mass in Matt's honor at 11 AM at Resurrection Catholic Church in Lakeland, Florida. The ceremony will commemorate his life and the impact he had on those around him. His Mass will be live-streamed on www.youtube.com/@RCCS_Lakeland
