Marybelle Harner Powell

Marybelle H. Powell, 88 Homemaker Kennesaw, Ga.- Marybelle Powell, longtime resident of Lakeland, passed away on July 17, 2015, just 2 weeks short of her 89th birthday. She, and her husband Lloyd, made Lakeland their home in 1949. She remained there until 2009, when she moved to Winter Haven to be cared for by her son, Larry. In 2014, she moved to Kennesaw, GA, to be cared for by daughter, Linda, and Ross Memorial Health Care Center. Marybelle was born in Xenia, Ohio on July 30, 1926, to Horace and Stella Harner. She grew up in Wilmington, OH, and married Lloyd in 1944. They raised their 3 children in Lakeland where she was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church and the Homebuilders Sunday School Class. She was predeceased by husband, Lloyd: 2 sisters, Harriett McNutt and Marie Farthing, son-in-law, JD Farmer, and daughter-in-law, Bee Powell. She is survived by son, Larry and his wife, Janey of Winter Haven; daughter Linda Farmer of Acworth, GA; son John of Birmingham, AL; 3 grandchildrren: Lesli Powell Whisenant (husband, Todd), Scott Powell (wife, Leigh Ann), and Jeremiah Farmer. Also, 5 great grandchildren: Andrew, Kayla and Matthew Whisenant: Hannah and Zachary Powell. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Heath Funeral Chapel. There will be a visitation at 1:00 pm, followed by service at 2:00 pm and a reception in the Tribute Center at the funeral home.
