Mary Ellen O""Neal Nursing Assistant Bartow- Mary Ellen O""Neal died April 16, 2013 from complications of dementia. Mary was born in Cairo, Georgia on August 21, 1945. She was a nursing assistant for Polk County BOCC for 24 years. Most of her time with the county was spent as a CNA at the Bartow Adult Day Care Center in Bartow (Charles Richardson Center). She loved and cherished each of those in her care as if they were part of her own family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Sims, father, William Clemons Sims, sisters, Beverly Simms, Joyce Butler and Earline Vance. She is survived by her husband, Michael O""Neal, Sr., Bartow, FL, Sons, Eugene C. O""Neal, Lakeland, FL, Kevin D. O""Neal (Marcie), Fort Meade, FL, and Michael O""Neal, Jr (Lisa), Tallahassee, FL; daughter Joyce Jackson, Bartow; Sister, Linda Sims Davis, Tallahassee, FL. Grandchildren, Falon O""Neal Childress, Jacob Ryan O""Neal, Lauryn Sierra O""Neal, Casey James Harrison, Ryan Paul O""Neal, Lance Patrick O""Neal, Christopher John O""Neal, Steven Michael O""Neal, Danielle O""Neal, Gregory Howard Travis, Michael Scott Travis and Ashley Banagas Nunez. Also surviving are 9 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Heath Funeral Chapel, Friday, April 19, 2013 from 5 " 7 pm. Services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11 am at Highlands Baptist Church.
