Martha Jo Martin Cornish

Martha Jo Martin Cornish passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022. She was born in Lakeland, Florida on January 17, 1925, to the late Floyd and Mae Martin.

Martha graduated from Lakeland High School in 1942 and was the snapshot editor for the Highlander Annual during her senior year.

She worked for Ben Hill Griffin for 19 years, then for Publix Corporate for 27 years.

Martha loved walking on the beach and looking for shells while staying at the cottages at Indian Rocks.

She loved those Atlanta Braves and all her fur babies, enjoyed gardening and playing bridge on the weekends.

Martha is preceded in death by her late husband, Roi H. Cornish, parents, Floyd, and Mae Martin; siblings, Peggy Carter, and Betty Martin; Aunt, Dee Dee Fields; Uncle, Howard, and Aunt Mary Martin.

She is survived by her son, Roi (Julie) Cornish, grandchildren, James “JR” Middleton (Trena), Cady (Ryan) Willis; great grandchildren, Kennedy Grimsley, Caleb Hall, J.B. Middleton, niece, Debra Carter, and Vicki Cornish, mother of James “JR” and Cady.

The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Hospice and the caregivers, Stephanie Oliver, Sherly Smith, Daedae McFarland, Nene Pugh, and Kay Kay Paige.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 11 am at Oak Hill Burial Park, 4620 US 98 South, Lakeland, Florida 33812.
