Marjorie Harris Myers, 95 Lakeland-Marjorie Harris (Marge) Myers passed away on October 3, 2015 in Lakeland at age 95. She and her husband C. Burton (Burt) Myers, Jr. moved to Lakeland in 1954 and purchased the Lakeland Steam Laundry on Lake Mirror which they later renamed Polly Prim""s Launderers and Cleaners. In 1962, the couple purchased Florida Drive-In Cleaners on the corner of South Florida Avenue and Cresap Street. The business was renamed Southside Cleaners-Launderers and new signage was installed that included a reader board message element. Over the next 45 years, Mrs. Myers became well-known locally and regionally for the sayings she would post on the sign. After her husband""s death in 1976, she continued to operate both businesses with the aid of her sons until 1984 when she sold both businesses to family members and retired. Her family still maintains the business of Southside Cleaners-Launderers and the sign which still features new messages each week. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland. She is survived by her sons Michael (widower) of Bradenton, and Gregory (Beth) of Lakeland, three grandchildren, Lindsay Bennett (Bill) of Siesta Key, Lauren Respess (Wash) of Lakeland, Christopher Myers, and several great grandchildren. Services will be for immediate family members at Oak Hill Cemetery.
