Margaret "Peggy" Scott

Margaret J. ""Peggy"" Scott, 72 City of Lakeland Lakeland " Peggy Scott was taken from us on October 10, 2013. She was born to Joe and Edna Quigley on September 26, 1941. Peggy spent her childhood in Springfield, Illinois where she graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. It was in Springfield where she met the love of her life, Gerald M. ""Jerry"" Scott and were married on December 26, 1960. They shared 41 years together until Jerry""s death in 2002. Peggy was a homemaker and mother of 4 children while Jerry served his country in the US Navy. They lived in many places including, Charleston, Honolulu and London before coming to Lakeland in 1973. Peggy retired from the City of Lakeland and lived her later years in the Cypress Lakes community. Among many things, Peggy loved to sing and dance. She enjoyed dancing at the Cypress Lakes Country Club. She always had a welcoming smile, was a dear friend to many people, and had a giving heart to help others. Her voice could often be heard at local sporting events as she cheered loudly for her grandchildren, as she had for her children before them. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry, and sister, Suzanne Pickett. She is survived by sister, Sharon (Bob) Wells of Springfield, IL; daughter, Toyi (Ron) Hall of Lakeland; sons, David (Tammy) Scott, Mike Scott of Lakeland, and Randy (Brooke) Scott of Tampa; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lakeland City Baseball at P.O. Box 2702 Lakeland, FL 33806 or a charity of your choice. A visitation will be held on October 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Heath Funeral Chapel and memorial service at 3:00 PM. A reception in the Tribute Center will follow the service.
