Margaret Fuerst Williams Lakeland - passed away on February 20, 2018 after battling a long illness. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Harry Williams, parents Albert and Marie Maul Fuerst, brother, Albert Fuerst and sister, Louise Denning. Margaret was born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on February 27, 1929. She graduated valedictorian from Catholic Central High School, Steubenville Ohio and attended St. Vincent’s Nursing School in Jacksonville, Florida. Margaret was employed as a nurse at Lakeland Regional Medical Center for 43 years. She initiated the hospital’s infectious control program and wrote many of the manuals associated with this undertaking. She retired in 1999 as the hospital’s Chief Nurse Epidemiologist. As a member of St Joseph Catholic Church, Margaret belonged to many ministries including Legion of Mary, Eucharist Ministry and Ministry to the sick. She also volunteered as a receptionist at the St. Joseph Pastoral Center. In addition to serving others, she was an avid painter, world traveler, dog lover and a friend to many. Margaret is survived by her sister Rose Kosater, Macon, Georgia, her brothers William (Rosemond) Fuerst, Memphis, Tennessee and Joseph (Pat) Fuerst, Cumming, Georgia. She is also survived by her stepchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her faithful dog, Gracie. A mass celebrating Margaret’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at St Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 at the church, prior to the mass. Interment will be at St. Anthony Cemetery, San Antonio, Florida.
