Manuel A Acevedo Lakeland " Manuel A. Acevedo passed away on December 2, 2015. He was born in Puerto Rico on April 21, 1935. From 1958 to 1964, Manny served in the U.S. Army, returning to Puerto Rico to serve in the Reserves. He attended Colegio Universitario Del Sagrado Corazon, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1977, he moved his family to Miami. A man of many talents, Manny""s career covered many disciplines. He was an educator, teaching in an elementary school in Puerto Rico, and working as a dance instructor for Fred Astaire and Arthur Murray dance studios in the U.S. During the 1970s, Manny served as a personal security guard for a Saudi Arabian prince who was living in the U.S. at that time. In addition, he held jobs in real estate, auto sales, and several restaurant business. From the 1990s until his retirement in 2009, Manny served as a probation officer and translator for Tri-County Human Services. A devout Christian, Manny served his Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife Leonora Sheffield and daughter Vivian Dunn. He is survived by his son Erwin Acevedo, daughter Heidi Mead (Philip), and step-daughter Michelle Rabon (Robbie); one brother and four sisters. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christopher Thomas, Saleshka Acevedo, Tiffany Acevedo, Taylor Acevedo, Kaitlyn Dunn, Isabelle Mead, Dillon Rabon, and Dalton Rabon; and 7 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on December 4, 2015 from 6-8pm in the Tribute Center at Heath Funeral Chapel. A service and interment will be held at Paynes Creek Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Florida on December 5, 2015 at 10am.
