Magdalen Louise (Sciola) Futch, 79 Magdalen Louise (Sciola) Futch passed away peacefully Saturday, February 17, 2018, at her home in Lakeland. Maggie was born June 25, 1938, in Wakefield, Rhode Island, the daughter of Antonio and Lucy (Angrisani) Sciola. She was united in marriage to Wendell E. Futch on July 21, 1962, and they shared 55 years of happy memories. She was always very proud of her Italian heritage and was a member of the Italian American Club after moving to Lakeland, Florida, in 1967. She was employed for many years in the Admissions Office of Florida Southern College until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed many great years of RV travel with her husband after retirement, visiting her children and grandchildren, camping at St. Joseph’s State Park in Port St. Joe, and making regular trips to Rhode Island to visit family there. She also cherished her annual “beach week” in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. Most of all, “Nanny” loved her grandchildren and treasured her family. Maggie was also a faithful member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She helped teach children’s classes and later served as a Reader for many years. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clemente Sciola of Wakefield, Rhode Island; a sister, Ethel Williams of Peace Dale, Rhode Island; and twin infant grandsons, Eric Michael & James Addison Futch She is survived by her husband, Wendell Futch; her brother, Antonio “Jay” Sciola, Jr. of Wakefield, Rhode Island; and her sons and spouses, James & Cyndi Futch of Tallahassee, Florida, and Jared & Heather Futch of Columbia, South Carolina. She is also survived by 5 loving grandchildren (Lauren, Nikki, Madison, Hannah & Gunner) and numerous other beloved family. Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, on February 23, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 820 Marcum Road, Lakeland, Florida 33809. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on February 22, 2018, at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 South Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, Florida 33801.
