LYNN FLEMMING CAMPBELL, 83 LAKELAND - Lynn Flemming Campbell, longtime resident of Lakeland, died March 14, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, the result of a stroke. Campbell was born January 5, 1930, son of James Campbell and Effie Walsh, in Surgoinsville, Tennessee on the family farm listed by the Historical Society of Tennessee as one of the state\\\'s oldest continuous working family farms. He was a 1948 graduate of Surgoinsville High School, and he played basketball for East Tennessee University from which he earned a BA degree in 1952 with a major in education. Following college Campbell joined the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge in 1954, he was employed first by GMAC and later by American Book Company representing McCormic-Mathers textbooks, for which service he was honored by Southern Educators as the top producer. In 1958, he married Pat Saunders and shortly thereafter, they came to Lakeland to make their home. Campbell was a charter member of the Lakeland South Rotary, where he served as president and assistant governor. He is regarded by the membership as \\\"a kind, generous, and gentle man... with an amazing sense of humor and a great enthusiasm for life.\\\" Campbell served on the Peace River Board. He was a member of the Vanguard Class of the First United Methodist Church. Campbell is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John, and his sister Eloise Snow. He is survived by his wife Pat, a son Conrad Lawrence Campbell of Zephyrhills, a son Kevin Fitzgerald Campbell and his wife Carey of Lakeland, three grandchildren Aubrey Campbell of Atlanta, GA, Andrea Campbell of Tampa, Florida and Allyson Campbell of Lakeland. A memorial service celebrating his life will be on Friday, March 22 at the First United Methodist Church at 2:00 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the United Methodist Children\\\'s Home or the United Methodist Building Fund.
